Oliver Perez struck out 15 batters and Albert Pujols hit one over the fence
and had 2 RBI at the ballpark as the SSB SSB Tar Heels beat the Columbus
Crowd by the count of 7 to 0.
Perez(14-8) was virtually untouchable. He gave up just 5 hits and 1 walk in 9
innings lowering his ERA from 4.31 to 4.11. The pitchers took over after the
4th inning as neither team was able to score again.
Bobby Madritsch(5-6) was hit with the loss. Frank Lopeman was obviously
impressed with the pitching of Perez, 'That guy made us look a little silly
out there this afternoon. We just couldn't get to him at all - everything
was working for him. I just hope that he got that kinda performance out of
his system.'
